Because he thinks the DVD won't have any extras.

Sony are usually very good at giving the DVD all the extras on the Blu-ray that are possible on DVD, so I'm sure it will be the same in this case.

I'll wait for the US version, which will surely be released in the beginning of November :)
Plus, they'll be some french on it ^^ (and it'll be region free too, because in the US, it's Warner who is editing the film ...)

You're probably right about the release date. The UK release should be region free as well though. No idea about the languages at this point. Do they not release these films in France as well?

No directors cut then? I thought there was at least 40 minutes of deleted scenes?
Nice to see another Maximum Movie Mode tho

Yup, just updating as I've just confirmed the standard 1-disc release is no-extras, but the HMV exclusive has the featurettes. So animateddude's boycott might remain firmly in place.

This is so stupid. These Blu-Ray exclusive extras are really getting tiresome. Still, They'll probably use it as an opportunity to rerelease the material on SD at some later date. I'll give this a rent. I was going to watch it in theaters, but after hearing about how bad it was supposed to be and seeing that it was cut to geta PG-13r rating, I decided to wait for the DVD and just Netflix it.

Seriously, do Universal and WB have any any idea how it's BLOODY DISTRACTING to have extras on the BR, but not the DVD ;)?

I was thinking that they'd use that "face" poster art.

Some online shops have the US BD for pre-order. They are claiming an extended cut that is rated R with 40 mins of footage. The artwork they are using is the same rubbish art however.

I'd prefer to see the unrated cut too as this film was SUCH a dissappointment.

Not yet seen this film, due to disability/health problems I always wait for the DVD releases instead of going to the cinema..
While looking for this though found that there's going to be a "special packaging" version of the box set containing all the films.
It's the exo-skeleton skull. This is for the Blu-Ray version though I've seen it advertised for DVD too, no price as yet though.

How many people have seen this?

Was it actually any good?

Being tempted by the Tin Special Ed on Blu Ray, I'm so sad a bit of tin and I'll risk it all !!

What is it with part 4's that are always a wasted opportunity?
See also Fast&Furious4!

I don't see how an extra 40 mins and even then being R rated can turn around this train wreck just think Die Hard 4.

After the above examples I am going to reign in my optimism in relation to part 4's as I can't think of a single one that's actually any good :-(

Any idea if the Play.com DVD Steelbook has any extras or is it just the single disc?

They're definitely holding back an extended edition to try make more money, perhaps to be released here if T5 EVER gets made?

Do they want consumers to see the star ratings, or are they trying to get the cover used as an eye test?

UK BD for me.

Extras look about the same, both are Region Free with Lossless audio but Sony are using Seamless branching, plus no sill digital copy from Sony too.

The Directors Cut is still a 12 cert?? No extra gore or violence. Awful film anyway.

The Directors Cut has been rated R in the USA for some violence and brief nudity.

The BBFC these days are very lenient.

Its not that bad a film its a million times better than T3.

T3 was also R rated in USA and 12 in the UK. I'll hold out for the extra 40 mins or so McG was talking about before release
