Wow - Universal can turn out two comedies on BD-50s with a boat load of extras and then give us the shaft with a BD-25 bare-bones version of The Thing.

These comedies were quite big hits in the US and you can trust the Apatow gang for giving eight hours of extras with every release, so the studio hasn't to do much research, contrary to an arguably better catalog film such as The Thing.

The 40-Year-Old Virgin is one of the worst-looking titles available on HD DVD, so unless Universal have prepared a completely new master, I wouldn't be too quick to celebrate this seemingly lavish treatment.
